How old were your eartheaters when they started breeding? I heard for A. heckelii it takes 2-3 years. What about Geophagus? I know it depends on the species.

I've kept other types of geos, but have only tried to breed OH (or red head) Tapajos so far and they started up as early as 6-8 months-- I found the red heads to be easy to breed.

The members of the Geophagus altifrons group began breeding in my tanks, at around a year old.
Gymnoegeophagus seemed to start within a year, just after a winter cool down (@ only about 3").

I keep Geophagus Steindachneri & while I can't tell you how old they are, I can tell you they are roughly 2"
