Got two EBJD from the LFS in June and have been growing them out in a 30 gallon. I've known I wanted to breed these guys as soon as I got them home. After having to sell the smaller one back to the LFS yesterday for close to nothing I now am ready to start seriously thinking about the breeding tank I want to set up for this guy and his future girl. Any tips as for what kinds of substrate or other decor to encourage spawning would be greatly appreciated. I've thought about Eco complete with a few pieces of Java fern and Italian valisneria, Malaysian driftwood, and rock but give me your 2 cents! Also suggestions as to where I can obtain a 3-5 inch BGJD!

Best of luck. The substrate and decor that you mention would be fine. Mine spawn in a bare-bottom tank. Give plenty of hiding places.

Keep the tank warm and keep up with the water changes. I would recommend at least a 50 breeder. 30 gallon is a bit small.

I purchased a 40 breeder a while back and he will be moving into that. Hoping that'll give the pair enough room to be happy and encourage breeding behavior and hopefully some fry! The EBJD and BGJD will later be pulled and divided each having a side of the 30 gallon.
