Eheim 2075 Impeller Rattling problem

Hi Everyone,

Last night when cleaning my 9 month old Eheim 2075 filter, I decided to take out the impeller cover to look at the impeller for the first time. I twist-locked the cover back on as before and when I power up the 2075 filter, the impeller is rattling around inside.

I opened it up, gingerly removed the ceramic shaft and rubber bushings, inspected the impeller, and nothing appeared wrong or damaged. The Eheim manual isnt much help since it doesnt say anything about rattling impellers that bounce around inside the motor.

Has anyone experienced this problem as was able to successfully resolved? Would buying replacement bushings/ceramic shaft/impeller resolve the problem?

Thank you for your input.

Mike

Since your filter is less than a year old and was working properly before you cleaned it, it is possible there is still air trapped in the filter.

Did you prime the filter according to the instructions? Or did you fill the canister with water manually before you tried priming it? The instructions state that no water must be present in the prefilter when priming the filter.

I do not own this model but am just going by what the instructions state.

Hi Dee,

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I did start the filter empty per the instruction manuals. However, you were right in the fact that there must of been a air bubble trapped around the impeller. Last night, after reading your post, I tilted the eheim 2075 filter 45 degrees in all directions (while running) and that forced the air bubbles out. It's whisper quiet again. Thanks for your help!

I'm sure this is mentioned in the forums somewhere, but wanted to share this experience just in case someone had this issue. When I had first setup the filter 9 months ago, it wouldnt pump any water out, despite my efforts to prime it. Being a noob with ehiem filters, I discovered that I didnt pre-fill the hoses with water per the instruction manuals. As soon as I did that and opened up the ball valves, water naturally flowed into the empty canister via gravity. Once it filled up, I powered it on and it worked beautifully until recently where there were some trapped air bubbles.

Thanks again!

Mike

Mike, you are very welcome & I'm glad you were able to get the filter working properly again.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!!!
