for years now, aquarists in north america have been confused over the Ebo (eheim) Jager heaters and whether or not they were fully submersible.
the packaging stated they were, but the heater had a water line on them, which lead to confusion.
in north america, Eheim was forced to put a water line on them in order to obtain UL approval in the USA and Canada. however, the heaters were always fully submersible, being exactly the same as the ones sold in europe. But they needed that UL approval to be sold in North America. So, they had to put the water line on it.
I was at the LFS and on all the Eheim Jager heaters there is now a big yellow UL sticker saying 'now fully submersible' with 'new safety cable'.
it seems they have finally received UL approval in north america and can now state 'fully submersible' and still receieve the UL approval which finally eliminates years of confusion.
and it will probably help sales too, as I have seen many people avoid eheim jagers because of the water line, not realizing that they were, as always, fully submersible.
just thought I would pass that along.
