I have 2 - 6” to 7” electrophorus varii in a shallow tank with a small in-water filter, and have had them about 5 or 6 months. They’re going fantastic, but since they arrived, I have had to replace the filter due to fried motor and have had regular occurrences of a blown breaker for the particular circuit the filter is plugged into. I’m going to try some grounding cables to see if it makes a difference. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience with electric eels. I run a lot of pumps and lights for all my tanks and didn’t have breaker issues till I got the eels.

If the grounding cables dont work, I keep mine with an air driven filter and had no issues so far, I also did keep one with an external filter and flow through heater in the past. I think any solution that doesnt put the elecrrical device in their range works.
