Each tank is slighty different. I like center lights with shaded areas on the sides so I use double bulb 36" Coralife T5's 10,000k/6,700k. My FX5s are stacked with (working down) tray 1 is ceramic rings, tray 2 and 3 is Eheim substrat PRO. I don't use any chemical anything, only bio.
Thx!

Is there any particular reason you did ceramic rings in 1 and the Eheim in 2 and 3?

All that time and work and you only leave the tank up for like 2 weeks? Seems like a waste of energy to me.
Who cares? They're his tanks, he makes good money, this is what he loves to do, so why not?

I'm really looking forward to keepig CAs with you bro. I don't even care if we're gonna have the same fish, they're gonna be awesome. ;)

Yeah I have lbs and lbs of ceramic rings people have sent me to try out. Substrat pro is expensive and the two trays are overkill as it is so why waste cash.

Yeah me too bro. I would not be jumping into CA's right now if it weren't for you, sharing fish and experiences is where its at! I really excited too, thanks for coming to the dark side!!

So the 125 gets Festae... I'm confused though, why shut down the 300? Don't the Maps live in there?

I've gotten your stock all crossed up.

I will have enough breeding fun for the both of us with the orangeheads now that yours are going away... I'm cross-pollenating right now - turns out one set of parents will raise the fry of another set. Even when it's fairly obvious that they're the others' fry (they swam through the divider, got scooped up and held). My house is an orangehead theater right now...

I'm very interested in seeing if DBN has new offerings (other than just new sizes)... maybe they'll also be adding ones that accommodate or are designed around overflows. That'd rule. Maybe I'll be glad I waited...

Right?!? Why that question on a thread called Epic overhaul/builds??

:screwy:

Justin, showed my wife some pics of Geos hoping she would like (because I am a closet Geo fan) and she said it was one of the ugliest fish she had seen...:(

Oh well, I feel a chnage in one of my tanks coming on (or a new one:D)

300 = future CA (Vieja) community
125 = festae pair
120 = Satanoperca mapiritensis colony / Hyphessobrycon colombianus school
45 = dwarfs Laetacara dorsigera / Dicrossus maculatus
10 = glassbangin swordtail / handicapped BN pleco.

I am waiting to see what they get too. If it's 96"x30" the 300 gallon is getting gutted and redone. :D

That's funny. My wife loves SA's but ever time I show her anything CA shows says they are ugly :yuck: except the orange ones, the festae. (they are really SA but she won't know the difference) good "gateway" cichlid lol.. I have allot of fish to move and buy today. The 300 gallon is torn apart and waiting for a friend to pick up some fish then it's empty, the OH colony went to their new home in Seattle last night. These litle guys are in the 10 gallon right now because the tank's perams are cleaner than my tap.

While I was in Seattle I hit a couple shops some friends told me about and managed to pick up this little gem still wrapped in plastic.. This is the bible when it comes to earth eaters and is no longer in print. Been looking for a copy for years. Google "south american earth eaters by thomas weidner" and see how much the copies are going for. IF available, nothing less than $200 ea.. :headbang2
