I may be over thinking things but I'm having a hard time with figuring out what epoxy paint to get for my tank and where to get it. Any suggestions what and where to get epoxy paint from? I'm in Canada so I would prefer to be able to get/order it here.

I want to stay away from liquid rubber as I've read through the forums of the fun people have when trying to seal the viewing window.

sweetwater seems to be the epoxy paint of choice around here. not sure about canadian shops but there are online ones that ship to canada. typically this comes with an additional hazmat shipping fee.

outside of that head to a local boat shop and ask them, just make sure that there are no copper addiives commonly used to keep the barnacles off.

Sweetwater is great. Built the tank in my signature line using it.

Easy to work with, bonds to the wood very well, and fairly flexible.

Lastly great choice of colors.

im not sure how durable that paint is , but if you want something that will definatly last , and be clear id recommend West system epoxy resin , the .98 gal can easily coat more than 5 big tanks , but you will also need the 205 hardener.

If you want a epoxy paint sweetwater gets alot of vote's when i looked into it it was 200$ for a gallon to cross the border, they rap you on the hazmate shipping. pond armor you can get shipped from distributors in Canada cheep no hazmate shipping but it is thick not at all like paint. west system epoxy should be available locally at a marine store or check their web site and it can have different pigments added.

Yeah, I wish I'd gone with the gallon kit - it would have saved me some $ instead of buying several individual quart bottles. But I'm not sure you could coat 5 big tanks with it. I guess it depends on how many coats and whether you're incorporating fiberglass. I think they recommend a bare minimum of 2 coats for barrier coating and 5-6 coats to completely fill fiberglass weave. Also, I'd recommend the 206 or 207 hardener over the 205. Gives you a lot more time to work with.

One more thing to consider is that the WS resin isn't a paint - it's clear. You can tint it but it still won't give you the solid color of an epoxy paint. Sweetwater is probably your best bet for that.
