a bottomless pit.
Have you tested your water?
No
If I did not test my water...
...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
21-30%
How frequently do you change your water?
Every week
If I do not change my water...

Hello friends, I have as of recently acquired a bichir, and have been very happy with my little fish, but have noticed some odd erratic behavior. She has somewhat frequently engaged in glass surfing, and has had multiple random spurts of movement, where she has begun moving very rapidly and erratically, up and down, before grabbing a breath of air and swimming back down to her hide. She is a newcomer to the tank (only had her abt 10 days) but this behavior is somewhat worrying. As i have heard stories of Bichir's that have killed themselves via such haphazard movement.
Haven't done a water test in the past 3 days, last time i checked it was ~9 PPM Nitrates. Probably has risen to ~15 PPM, my filter is doing fine to my knowledge

My Senegal bichir's would do that when they were young. Make sure you have all gaps sealed.

I do try my best, but I have like a 1 CM gap due to my lid situation, hopefully not a big deal since such a gap like that is smaller than she is tall :l
