Picked up some new substrate (thanks Keep) Its more along the lines of T grade 3M but much cleaner to rinse Marbles have been on it now for 2 weeks and maintained their color and havent darkened at all. I am wondering if part of it isn't the Halide lighting vs conventional flourescent. Anyways showing of a few pics of the substrate plus an excuse to squeeze in a couple of my rays.:)

finally :)

Looks great man, it does seem a little gray. Maybe it is your lights?

I am surprised the rays have not piled it in the middle of the tank yet?
I am thinking of doing my black bottom tank with this same stuff soon.

Not the lighting, it was like that right out of the bag. But I like it. I should have gotten two bags though.
So don't be shocked if you get a PM in the not so distant future.. LOL Its spread pretty thin, a 100lbs would have been just right.
Rays do move it to the middle I just waited to take pics after I moved it all back.:) Now to get the other three rays in there.

dang man, you've been holding out with them marbles..they are sweeeet!
is this the same tank you did the tile bottom? still not so sure i like sand with my tanks.the thought of the huge piles keeps me from adding sand.

Wow! They look better then they've ever looked don't they?

Crazy difference.... Especially being on such dark substrate. My Marbles get ugly on dark substrate. So it's the lighting that changed?

You should put them on something light (like white) then hit them with the halides. ;)

So where does a guy go about buying a large quantity of sand? I have 40 square feet that needs filled with white sand.

I really like the sand. Now you've got me thinking........ Great marbles as well.

Looks nice. Be interesting to see if/how the marbles change. Needs more black in that tank.

Yep, same tank. Took the slate out a while back as the Halide lighting caused algae growth on it and being porous it was a pain to clean off.

I found that my marbles tend to wash out on white with this lighting. Hopefully over time they wont darken with the substrate. Supposedly you can get the Estes from flooring stores. I couldn't find it locally so had Keep ship me a bag. Paid dearly for shipping but it was worth it. Should have gotten 2 50 pound bags though. I found a couple more flooring places by me that I am going to see if they can get it for me.
