I have a fire eel thats about 12" long he is eating market prawns, cut up. I feed him as much as he'll take. My question is can I overfeed him? And if I give him lots of meaty foods, what kind of growth rate can i expect out of him?

It is said they they'll get 1.8' in the aquarium and almost 4' in the wild. I'd think the smaller growth in the aquarium is more dietary than size of the tank. With the diet you're feeding him, I'd expect that he'll exceed 1.8' easily.
I have one that i have had for about 3 years, he was about 8". I did not feed him nearly enough food when i first got him. I would only feed him about 5 nightcrawlers a week.
He only grew about 5" in 2 years. In the past year i have been really feeding him like i should, and he is just a hair over 24" now. I would say that nightcrawlers, mussles, and shrimp would be a great diet. Mine can eat about 5-10 medium sized frozen shrimp a day now...they ARE.......MONSTERS!!!
