Firemouth Weird white egg?? Breeding?

Hello,
i have 2 firemouths in a tank they seem to have paired up,
theres also a Small Arowana in there too will be rehoused soon....
ive notived the firemouths have started to dig holes..
now i found there a white oval shapped thing in one of them? are these the eggs?

Also the female (so i think is the female)
lost all her colour, i checked back later that white thing was there and she had her colour back
 
When most new world cichlids spawn (FMs included), this is how a egg plaque will look.

eggs will be attached to solid object like a rock, the glass

The only new world cichlid with non adhesive eggs, is Hypsophrys nicaraguense (the eggs roll around)
 
Agree with Duanes.
Definitely not eggs. It looks more like uneaten food with mould on it to me.
 
just seems really strange how the female lost all her color,
almost had no red at all.
Then suddenly this white thing appears exactly in on one of the pits....
and the color is then back?
The Arowana in the tank has been acting weird ever since their breeding started to happen and doesn't seem interested in eating.
 
Have you been feeding feeder fish to the tank?
How long has the tank been up and running?
