My tank has been cycled all has been perfect until last test I test weekly nitrates ammonia and pH on occasion. pH always reads high tap water high I bought bottled water for Betta who recently passed from old age but use tap for guppy tank 10 gallon tank planted plus fake plants for baby hideouts and added driftwood today as pH was off chart and nitrates 80 ppm pH over 7.6 no ammonia nitrites but how can I tell if fish r stressed two original fancy guppy pair bought together n unsure how many babies the two adults act like they want out up n down sides of tank I'm doing small water changes every other day since got high nitrate read took petrified wood out n added driftwood cleaning filter why nitrates so high and should I alter pH more like more driftwood no chemical alterations. They just don't look happy.

Those Nitrates are extremely high for such a small tank... If you live near Idaho I can tell you this. Idaho had a serious spike in nitrates in their tap water my friends all had multiple fish die because of this so i made sure not to do water change till this was taken care of... Now having Nitrates so high can cause all fish to have swimming bladder issues and may kill young fry. I would dump 75% of the water and add new water... (dechlorinate it and test it to see how high nitrates are in the bucket) The wood will do nothing for nitrates. The guppies will not show their stress until they are sick...
What is you complete stocking? (how many of each fish or snail)
Having a overstocked tank will cause serious nitrates issues (learned that the hard way)
