First time reception!

As some of you will remember, I bought a trio of rays about 5 months ago, a BD hybrid male, BD hybrid female, and a super hybrid female. A week or so added a pure BD male as well. They inhabit a 560gal tank in my basement.
This morning when I went down to say g’day there was the clear evidence of mating floating around in the water. I had been told “oh you’ll know” when it happens. Know I know how true that statement is.
Not sure which male or which female as I hadn’t separated them into pairs as yet, but the BDH male did seem to be asserting his desire more persistently the last few days, and a big chunk off goop drifted out from under the BDH female when I turned the lights on. I guess we’ll find out in 90-100 days.

Not meaning to be gross, but continuing to document and share my journey in attempting to produce stingray pups.

The previous mating was on Dec 18th. I still don’t know which female was mated, and tbh neither looks particularly plump. I guess it becomes more evident towards the last 20-30 days of gestation, and since this is the first mating for either young female, perhaps there will only be 1-2 pups. Time will tell…

So this morning when I went to feed the ray tank, there was once more, visible evidence of a mating attempt. The new marbled female has a lot of bite & scrape marks in her body, and she is quite docile, I was thinking exhausted from the males persistent attention. She did eat, so I’m thinking the male was harrassing her most of the night (I had left the blue moon light on) and she was plumb tuckered out after everything was said and done. Hopefully pups in mid-May now also
Now is the time to stop looking if it grosses you out…
