Ok, just found a spider on my pillow, so decided I really need to do something about them, having researched, looks like sprays are the best, but not sure with having my tanks in the bedroom (well, next year in my one room.) Are there any aquarium safe ways that work to keep the nasty critters away? I don't want to kill them (except when they are trying to share my bed, or other close encounters) but I'm fed up of them and can't deal with them any longer.... please help

Slippers IMO works best. Magazines, anything you could smite them with.

Lol ya I never worry about spiders. If they are near my tanks my fish will handle them. If not I smash them with anything withing reach.

I only kill black widows since I got kids who will grab bugs they see. I usually leave other spiders alone to take care of the bugs

I prefer the hammer punch method unless it's a larger spider like a widow, camel, or wolf. Then it's all about the flip flop

My parents old house backs up to a field and we used to get spiders and mice all the time. They bought these things from costco that plug into an outlet and emit ultrasonic waves that disrupt the nervous system of insects and rodents but are inaudible to humans and dogs/cats/fish, and I never really noticed any pests after we put them in. I would recommend giving them a try before using chemicals around your tank

Same here. Widows are pretty much all that can hurt the kids around here. They can learn their lesson the hard way with the wolf and jumping spiders. I have to kill any spiders my wife sees in the house though.

I always thought those were fake. My mom had some once in an old house she bought to fix up and we still had mice

I might give the ultrasonic thing a go, thanks :), if it helps at all I'll be happy....
I know in England our spiders aren't dangerous particularly, but repeatedly waking up with spiders staring me out is creepy.... can snakeheads eat spiders then without getting ill?

And I am very glad I don't live in America with the comments about black widows... we have false widows, and their bite can hospitalize people...
