I'm new to this forum. I placed an order with Fish Tank Direct. A 350 Tsunami Aquarium. I had been doing some research and Fish Tank Direct was by far the most economical. Has anyone purchased aquariums from them and what was your experience? Also I would like some advice on filtration, I want to stock tank HEAVY.

First of all, welcome to the forum! It's good to have you. :)

I deleted your duplicate thread as it was in the wrong area.

I have not purchased from Fish Tanks Direct, so I can't speak to that part.

As to the filtration, the typical answer would be to just stuff a large sump under the tank and call it a day. Is this not consistent with your desires? A little more info as to what you're hoping to accomplish would he helpful in answering your question in a more concise manner.

I purchased a custom built tank through FTD. The 15' x 4' x 4' tank was built to my specifications. I recommend anyone looking for a large tank to consider FTD.

Your "HEAVY" stocked comment is concerning to me. I can't help but picture a battle with high nitrates. A continuous drip system would eliminate frequent water changes if you have high nitrates. "HEAVY" stocked also conjures up thoughts of frequent changing of filter socks or filter floss in a sump. If you want to avoid that, consider one or two of the smallest Ultima IIs (Ultima II-1000). The easy, painless backwashing of the Ultima II quickly removes the poop and debris from the filter. Since the purging is done with tank water, besides cleaning the filter, the first part of your water change is done and all you have to do is refill the tank. it would be helpful to have a drain close to the Ultima iI.

Do you have any videos to suggest or information to suggest? About the Ultima II. How do I use it and where would I place it? Thanks

I did some research on Ultima II-1000. It's a pond filter. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. Of how to use and install such filters. My aquarium will be 8'L 3'W 2'H, total of 350 gallons. I checked YouTube but can't seem to find any videos that show aquarium use.

There are quite a few threads on Ultimas here on MFK. Here's one:

JK47 has set up a few Ultimas on his tanks. You could PM him.

Spiff44 runs Ultimas. Do a search on Ultimas here on MFK.

Family illness and multiple surgeries for me have prevented my working on my big tank, so it isn't setup yet. I will tell you that you will need an appropriately sized pump with the Ultima that you use. (I am going with ReeFlo Barracuda gold pumps to run my Ultima II 4000s and we have two 3" for drains for backwashing)

OP, It may be helpful to provide more information of what you will be getting in terms of tank. Will you have an overflow, and drilled holes? This may help you determine the best filtration for your tank.

Corner overflows
Pumps will be LifeGard Quiet One 5000s (x2), each with 1458gph flowrate (2916 total)
