Flat rock for Oscar breeding

Hi where can I find a large flat rock to breed my oscars? This would preferably be large enough that I can remove all the eggs as a surrogate parent in a 10 gallon tank.

If you live in an area with lots of shale then I'd try a creek or somewhere else with flat shale.

go to home depot and get piece of slate (without any coating)

rinse it off and drop it in a Qurantine tank along with a couple feeders for 2 weeks. then transfer it into your breeding tank.

Does your lfs offer any rocks? Just get a peice of slate.

Housing projects, rivers, creeks, anything like that will have natural slate.

Or you can just go to a building center and buy some thicker shale, or the manufactured slate there.
