What are your thoughts on anemones being ticking time bombs? I see you're planning for a bubble tip. I suspect them to be the most forgiving and easy to care for, I am just now sure what the long term success is and would be interested to hear your thoughts. I personally would love a rose bta.
No...I dont think they are a "ticking time bomb"...one of the harder things to keep but we have a culture of BTA's around here that has been splitting and living for over a decade. Not even the best h2o quality, light, or feeding even.

I agree with you and heath that BTA is the way to go for most people....they are well adjusted to life on our captive reefs.
All anemones need proper lighting, water flow, feedings, and most importantly.... a mature tank. BTAs are, imo, the most forgiving anemone you can get. They are easy to feed, seem to tolerate a large array of lighting, and will host most clowns.

I want a BTA, but I am almost sure my maroons will love on it to death... literally. My tomatos were so desperate for one that they would hide in my fuzzy mushroom garden, love on them too aggressivly, and constantly force them to split.
Had the same thing happen with my mushies.

Hey guys here is my DIY SeaSwirl build.

Pretty simple. Only thing that really needs to be explained is that the center black piece is from a plastic sprinkler....bought it at target, total cost for two of them was $4.20.

The bottom conveniently screws off, and the top I had to cut the arms off of, and I will probably have to drill them for a little more flow. the important part is that they swivel 360 degrees.

The last illustration just shows how it will go over the edge of the tank, I have hard pvc that will be going in the empty areas.

Should results in some pretty kick arse flow.

They will go on as soon as I have the chance...tank video either this weekend...or when all the new stuff comes in!

Cant wait to be massively (over) stocked in the near future! All fish are healthy again...not having any issues since I came up with a written dietary plan...I think that did me some good.

Purple tang has none of the HLLE he got from QT (hasnt for awhile) and the Blue tang is about 50% recovered (I never expect to regain the fins that are frayed though).

Its not going to...the sprinkler head wil just spin 360*...I decided that doing the other would take too much money and space

Well here is the most recent update.

Got a big shipment in.

We will start with what I killed...a large tabling acro...and an xmas wrasse.

What I got and didnt kill was:

small acan colony (10 heads)
blue pagoda coral
3 or so color BTA

tomini tang
3 female and one male anthias...a sub species of lyretail
one yellowhead sleeper goby

I may or may not be replacing the wrasse eventually...just have to see.

Everyone has settled in nicely...some fighting originally with the tomini but he has figured out all the hidey holes. Very elusive...hence named sanders.

The anthias are becoming more bold...but my clarkii clowns lay into them just about every chance they get.

My ORA extreme misbar clowns are floating in a strawberry box...being "forced" to take the new BTA...the big one went into it the second I added him. Hopefully I will have the time to take them out and get them settled in the tank today.

I have started adding vinegar to my vodka dosing...so...who knows what that will do. Expecting 0 nitrates this weekend after 2 weeks without an h2o change. (Not my usual but I was gone and when I got back had to add the new fish so I didnt want to do an h2o change and shock them right away)

Hopefully I will get a video tomorrow after my h2o change.
