Flowerhorn and Blood parrot? Is it compatible?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Should be ok, personally i would sex the fh first and go with opposite sex parrot. Some fh wont mix after being alone but most of all of mine do well with other fish, i have a female kamfa and male fh x carpentis ( pearl or texas) paired off together in a large cichlid community tank and they dont bother anyone as long as the other fish stay outta there small piece of real estate. All fh are different in my expierience if you add a smaller fh to a tank with bigger fish then they dont get aggressive, but also the fh could remain dark in color, all depends on the fish.

This is the male fh x the female a red texas male and a zonatus, all nasty fish but the all get along, it may not last forever but they have all been together since 1" and range in size 7"+++

I kept a flowerhorn with peaceful non aggressive cichlids INCLUDING a blood parrot. for about 6 months or so, the parrot and the FH even spawned.
heres a pic of him healthy and happy

Two hybrids! That is all I need to know.

My FH actually paired up with a common Texas cichlids and I know a guy who breeds and sells hybrid FH and Parrots. The FH is a male and the Parrot is female. Nonetheless, like many people have already mentioned, its pretty much hit or miss. I had one FH in the past that was just a nasty little bugger...

Flowerhorn don't typically get along with with other and unless you have a large tank I would say no. They sometimes get along in overstocked or in large tanks but each one is different.

This is true, my tank is stocked to the brim to reduce aggression, 4 fx5s, 40gal wet dry, 2 25% water changes weekely to keep my stock happy and healthy.
