I was setting up a 240 gallon tank and plugged in a fx6 to test if it was working because I bought it used with the tank and it was on for maybe 5 seconds then I turned it off. Then I added water to prime it and now it won’t turn on when I plug it in. Does anyone know what’s wrong with it? burnt out motor maybe?

How much water did you add to the filter? I think you are supposed to add at least 2 gallons of water to prime the filter before plugging the cord into the electrical outlet.

It's possible the filter is just in its normal 24 hour pause cycle to evacuate air accumulation. Wait 5 minutes and plug it back in.

I added 3 gallons at first and I’ve waited about 30 minutes and it still won’t work

I would start with the no money spent on it solution first. With the motor on the bottom of the unit it could have debris or things gunking up the impeller. I would start with taking the motor apart and cleaning the impeller, make sure it spins freely.

I had a similar problem, if you take all of the baskets and whatnot out then if you look where the motor is on the outside then on the inside in the same place should be a hole, get something skinny and wiggle it around in there, it might fix it.
