When I started my tank I bought Hagen Fluval Stratum substrate because of the benefits for the water for a South American cichlid/catfish tank and because I wanted to do live plants. I kinda regret that because it is so hard to clean and it is easily stirred up which makes the water cloudy. Is anyone else using this product or has used it in the past and what are your thoughts on the idea of mixing in some gravel to help make it more stable. Fish are uprooting my plants often. :irked:

i have some shrimp Fluval substrate in a 10 g and it is nice but it is easy to move i put a 1" to 2" layer of sand on the bottem and it seems to be working well for the shrimps RCS :)

Try plant waits attach them to a rock or drift wood thats my best idea you could cap it with gravel like 2" or 3 " cap would be good then it would hold plants down better and would not move the stuff around as much you will have to drain then tank and put gravel on top that would work 2.
