So I was feeding my fish Liver like i always do because hes too big for goldfish/ wont eat them. He ate two livers and i dropped another small peice in the tank for hi to eat later or for the Gulper/pleco/ or Oscar that lives with him.
I come back to take a look at my big fat boy and hes got half a liver hanging out of his gills on one side. So i catch the guy and flip him upsidedown because that basically turns the fish off and i can take a look through his gills.
Turns out half the liver is in his stomach and the other is through his gills so i caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeefully work on pulling the piece out through his gills, I successfully removed the half sticking out of his gills and didnt look like any stuck in his gills but i couldnt be sure without being too invasive.
My question is, do fish gills heal if i happened to do any damage at all. Do fish bruise? Hes got a red spot on the side i "worked" on. Ive been treating the water slightly with anti fungal and infection prevention stuff. Is there something i could be doing differently or something more i can do? I truly love this fish.
