Hey Everyone, found this big piece of driftwood at the beach I go fishing at. Caught a Bass for dinner right in front of the driftwood. Hopefully no one gets annoyed with a fishing photo. Figured was good to show the size of it. I’m wondering if and how would I be able to put it in my tank. What are the best steps to take

Keep it simple, just blast it with a hose, soak it until it is waterlogged then pour some boiling water on it then hose it down again.
Some people get carried away and bake it in the oven or boil it in a pot for hours but i have never had any problems doing the abbove.

Agree w my Aussie friend….it came out of the ocean so the oceans salt water should have cured it of pathogens & fungus….soak and scrub, rinse and have at it!

This log is just under 6 ft long, found on the Pacific beach.
I hosed it off, a moment or 2 with the garden hose, and dropped it in the tank.

As you can see, I find logs for my tabks, all the time, and don't do anything other than hose them down a little
Some times they leach some tannins, but I considier the antibacterial qualities of tannins a good thing;.
After a couple water changes, the tannin staining gets diluted anyway.
