What breed of fleshwater eel work best in a 150 tank which has severums, parrots and tinfoil barbs and a pleco. all the fish are between 5"-8", pleco is 12" ? The substrate is white sand

If your talking about Moray Eels, then your going to be outta luck unfortunately as they always require brackish - marine settings...

But you check out some of the F/W Spiny Eels such as Peacock or maybe Zig Zag eels, which aren't actually true eels but fish... although they do resemble the look of an eel...

Just be sure to do your research through, since if i remember correctly besides the Fire Eel, the Tire Track i think will also reach 3ft when mature and need a fairly large tank... i.e. 200g-300G and up...

Anything except tire track eels and fire eels or any other species that gets to over 20".

Btw, they are species, not breeds. "Breeds" refers tovariants of the same species, and are created through selective breeding, for example flowerhorns, bettas, dogs, cats, etc. all have many different breeds, but are each a different species of animal.

I think 150 gallons is more than enough to house a fire or tire track eel for a good while. Just be prepared to upgrade if you go that route.

Yeah, but the thing is, the OP asked what species would work for a 150 gallon tank, not which species would work for a while, then need to be rehomed.

I think a 150 would be fine for any spiny eel, even if they do get long they spend most the time hiding in rocks, so I would go with a tire track they are my favorite!

No, actually they don't, but even if that was true, it still wouldn't mean a thing in this case. Putting a 36-40" fish that is the girth of an adult man's arm in a 18" wide tank would just be cruel. Even a 2' width is still barely enough, tbh. An adult TT in a 150 gallon would literally not even be able to turn around.
