I am being offered an Fresh water archer by my LFS. Got a 3 ft,1.5,1.8 grow out tank with a jardini who is abt 6-7" . Can both the archer and jar be kept together knowing the temperament of the jar I am a little worried as I love both. I am not believing the LFS as he says both can workout together. Apart from the jar the tank has 4no. Tin foil barbs and a newly introduced sunshine pleco L14. If anyone has kept the archers with the jar can suggest. Thanks in advance.

Archers aren't freshwater fish, they are brackish water fish. So thats a reason why not to attempt this. I also agree with Ryan that it probably wouldn't work out anyway.

Toxotes blythii are freshwater bro

x2.

Although some species of archerfish, e.g. Toxotes microplepis, can live in freshwater, too; furthermore, there is at least one species that only lives in freshwater. Of the three commonly available species of archerfish (T. chatareus, T. jaculatrix, & T. microlepis), only T. microlepis can live in freshwater for life.

Also, keep in mind that archerfish do best in groups, so you'll want to get more than one although that may just mean that more than one archerfish will get killed by the arowana.

Are they really rare or something? Didn't hear about them until now.

From my understanding, legitimate T. blythii are pretty rare. To make matters worse, T. microlepis probably get labelled as T. blythii pretty often by vendors as those two species were once considered to be one in the same.

T. chatareus are freshwater can live their whole life and breed in freshwater.
