First off, I'm new here... ;)

Second, I am really interested in some info on Freshwater Stonefish.. I haven't been able to find much on them.

Anyone keep fw stonefish... ?

Ive kept one before and they arent too active, only to find a sitting spot or to eat. I hear they like brackish water, but not entirely sure myself. I only see them in freshwater setups. I wouldnt keep them with any fish you value either, they have large mouths.

I had one before. They're definately in the oddball realm. They're brackish water fish more than fresh water. I think they can get anywhere from 8" to 12". They have vemonous spines on their dorsal fins and have large mouths and will eat small fish. They're pretty peaceful.

are you refering to those ^^^

or t. amazonica?

first pic is the brackish one, and the second pic is a freshwater, t.amazonica

I've kept Oyster Toad Fish, which I'm pretty sure are either related to or ARE freshwater stonefish. They are really neat fish. Just remeber to keep up on the water changes, and feed them ghost shrimp with tongs when there small. They have great personalities, and usually get to know thier owners. Give you little fella a shell/ cave, somewhere to hide, and he will be fine in with other fish. One more thing. Make sure that he is in brackish water. Every Toad I've ever caught came from the local bay, and seem to need atleast some salinity in thier habitat. I hope this helped, and best of luck.
