From what I'm reading mpimbwe are the way to go if you're looking for frontosa a little less shy and more personality? I seen others with better color and larger kok but I would like a fish that I'd more out going n comes to the front of the tank when I feed

Mpimbwe are the ones with the "puppy dog" reputation. Really it depends on the group, individuals, tank setup, etc. But, yes, in earlier years it was mpimbwe among those wild giberrosa imports that were known for being less shy. Smaller juvies of most giberrosa are actually pretty similar if they're comfortable in the tank, as they get older it just depends. Zaire/Congo coast giberrosa (moba, kapampa, mikula, etc.) do tend to be more shy on average, mine are out all the time, but individuals I've kept over the years vary some. How you set up the tank can make a difference, growing out juvies in a more open tank encourages them to be less shy than a lot of snug little caves.

I seen others with... larger kok
More of a flowerhorn word. While some of the big cyphotilapia forums are gone now, if you showed up on one of them using it, the experienced members would think you're a newbie. ?

There are two Cyphotilapia species, frontosa and giberrosa. Frontosa do tend to have larger humps on average; especially some older 6 bar frontosa can get an exaggerated hump. But some giberrosa individuals can get a respectable hump also. (mpimbwe are giberrosa)

Thanks, definitely a newbie lol I've been keeping a community tank for a few years. Thought it might be fun to so some small breeding tanks with some different species and try to do some breeding ect. And ill have my big display im strongly thinking about going frontosa or gibberosa. Just going slow trying to do research unlike before when it was thats cool throw it in the tank lol
