Description:

Decided to go small, selling my two show piece Vieja. Pick up in South Jersey about 15 min from Philly and 45 min from MD border.

11" male Vieja malanura from Rapp, $60

14" male Vieja harwegi, $80

Both fish are super mellow and have co existed peacefully with small fish.

That hartwegi looks more like a Vieja Rotschwanz. If it is rotschwanz someone better jump on it.

I am not 100% sure it is a hartwegi because I didn't buy it from Rapp but from a LFS. The store told me it was a synspillum and I knew it wasn't. I have never heard of rotshwanz but think it is either a hartwegi or guttulata. I am attaching a juvenile pic of the same fish which appears to have a slight overbite so I am leaning towards hartwegi. The overbite is gone in the mature fish, so I am not certain. Regardless, hartwegi, guttulata and rotshwanz resemble so much to one another that it is hard to tell apart and may as well be classified as subspecies.
