Are there any fully aquatic newts? i have a 30 gallon I have filled with water and was going to do goldfish, but newts caught my attention.

What would I need to keep these? Do they need a heate or would high 60s suffice? Can any tankmates such as fish be kept with them? If so, can you name some?

Thanks

They like cold water, and you can just float some corkbark at the top, doesn't have to be 1/2 water...I've found the "smooth" Paddletail newts (Pachytriton sp.) are almost totally aquatic, as opposed to the "warty" Paddletails (Paramesotriton sp), which spend more time out of the water.

Are they active?

Yep. My newts swim right over when you come in the room looking for food.

Could I keep say around 6 in the 30 gallon with a school of bigger tetras(6) and a few dwarf gourami?

Like would 72 degrees work or do they want it colder?

Naw that'll be fine...the problem with fish is temperature...maybe try tetras like Buenos Aires that like it cooler...

k will do thx for help and link.

Know anyplace where I can get these?
