I just bought my gargoyle gecko around 3 days ago and tossed some crickets in it so he can eat them whenever. Even though he doesn't move AT ALL during the day and often just watches the crickets run around him. Does he not eat them right away because i just recently purchased him and hes still a bit scared about his new surroundings or because hes nocturnal and would only eat them at night?
P.S. I bought him off of craigslist and he was already a year old so he must be eating and not have a disease...

Be patient for a bit.I panicked when my crested did that.Make sure you got a temp gage and the humidity is right.Lots of hiding space.Use a spray bottle and mist the entire cage 2 times a day.Make sure the substrate is holding moisture but not soaked like sloppy wet.Get the crix out for a day or so and make sure they are not too big for him.Post pics when you can to show his weight and such.Dont be holding him right now and no loud music or scary vibrations.Basicaly they need to know they can come out of hiding without getting killed or ambushed.Mine did this for 3 weeks and now hes a tiger. The temp needs to be in the right range.Warmer side will stimulate eating more in my exp.

k thanx i will upload some pics today of him. The tank is about 15 Gal. but its a regular low terrarium flipped to the side so he crawl up his fake plant thing. Im keeping him at room temperature and where i live its not blistering hot so i don't really need to worry about cooking him. And also aren't they night hunters? So he might be eating the crickets while im sleeping. And are gargoyles ever active during the day even though they are nocturnal?

well first you should never leave crickets in your tank and second i posted on your other thread how to house them and what to feed him you should be feeding baby food and crested gecko diet they need a cool temp around 75 and mist 2 times a day
i know its just that the guy that sold it to me told me to feed it crickets 3 times a week, so it seemed like it main diet. I find it weird that he was eating the crickets with its old owner and not with me...
