How long exactly? If the fish reached 4" quickly and then stopped growing its a good indication that its a female. From what ive seen the brasiliensis males are much larger than the females typically.

Below is a breeding pair from the braziliensus complex, @ 4".

Not easy to see, but the male has a slightly steeper, interrupted (bumpy) profile than the female. The female more torpedo shaped.
As the get older the steep profile becomes more pronounced.
Yours may be female.
If however, you have other cichlids in the tank, that are more dominant, the male trait may be hidden.

I have had him about 6 months maybe a little longer. Started off with 4. One of them was alot bigger than the others. I got them at maybe 1 3/4 to 2 inches. They r actually very aggro at a small size was pretty shocked about that this was the smallest and it is the only one left out of the bunch. It does have a black strip on dorsal fin.

I find that their aggressiveness is heightened during warm temps.
They come from Southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay which is more temperate than northern tropics of the Amazon, in fact temps can be quite cool during the winter and at night there.
So I kept them at room temp, without a heater in the same way I'd keep northern Mexican species like beanii, bartoni, or carpintus.
In fact I had a pair or regular braziliensus spawn in a 300 gallon rubbermaid tub outside in Milwaukee where water temps in the tub barely rose above 70 in summer, and at night hit the low 60s and even high 50sF.

I grew mine out at 77-78F and at that temp I did not find them to be slow at growing, but mine also could have easily been a different variant. IMO your fish looks to be female.
