Giant Gourami

I only went in for a filter. He was expensive at 20 pounds, but they knocked some money of the filter so I'm happy. I have not seen a black gg before. He's all black, with white tentacles that end in red, with red edging round his tail fins! Is this juv colours or will he stay black? Any care tips? Sorry the photos are so crap, but it gives a vague idea....

Looks to me like a Red Tail Giant Gourami Osphronemus laticlavius.

Thanks....Just looked them up. Not much on the web but hes defo one of them! Hes really nice too, lets me hand feed him already! I like him!

Yep thats a red fin gaint gourami and a bargain at that price too. I have a breeding pair. AT 20" and 16".

It won't stay that dark. RTGG's have mood swings and sometimes they're very dark all over, and other times the belly will be a very bright silvery color, and the dorsal area will stay dark, and the black spot at the base of the tail will be very noticeable.

The red also intensifies when they are in that 'mood'.
