Hi guys. Since my fish will get bigger il eventually need a bigger place for em and atm il build a big kind of she'd this summer of 15 feet on 12

Inside I want to make a interior pond. Concrete or wood I'm not sure but should be 9 ft long on 4 wide and 3 ft high.

So I wanted to put a smaller window to make it easier and my store tells a 1 inch thick should be OK and a 3ft x 2ft window costs 230 bucks. Do you think the thickness is enough and the price good?

Thx

Personally, I'd use glass, simply because it's what I have experience with; never owned an acrylic tank, either commercially-made or DIY. I know that both materials have their pros and cons, but I don't think either one is particularly superior to the other. Weigh the positives and negatives and make a choice.

I made a suggestion in another thread recently regarding glass thickness, and was so thoroughly and vehemently chastised that I barely made it out alive :)...although I doubt that there are many other posters like the one in question. Nevertheless, I would suggest that there are numerous online calculators that allow you to determine the required thickness of glass or acrylic that your particular build demands. I would err on the side of caution, rather than taking chances to save a few bucks. Keep us posted!

Yeah... that guy needs to make sure any visitors tip-toe through the fish room and should have a huge wet/dry vac on hand in case anyone makes a loud noice. Or coughs.

For the window, you mention the pond will be concrete or wood.
I went wood with liner and hence the acrylic was much easier as it can be drilled and mounted much easier making sealing it easier too as you can bolt through it. Then your not just relying on water pressure and sealant, not ideal if your gonna-go liner and glass.
