I am nowhere close to getting one of these beauties. But just out of curiosity how large of a tank would it take to keep one for its entire life?
Thank you

Well, the get over 6 foot so a HUGE tank, or if possible you could get one if its smaller cousins that only get around 2 foot, same looks, same personality, only thing different is the size which means you can keep it in a smaller tank than a Goliath :)

One of the subforums has some info on the different species and husbandry includeing GATF's. They are hard to keep sucessfully in captivity long-term from what I understand, But a few people are keeping them successfully. a little digging and you should find tons of info.

tiger fish only get to less than 3 feet in captivity. Although larger is definitely possible or a HUGE tank. I would recommend a 500 gallon tank for one.

6 feet is only in the wild.....

Also wild goliaths have been known to kill children so be careful D:

only in rare cases. lol Never in captivity unless you have a 2 year old kid who just randonly fell in a tank for a 5 foot goliath. They don'y grow near that size in captivity anyways.

if you get a tiger fish I would look into getting a Vat. they dont get as big but they are alot more active. my 9inch goliaths in a 210g and he almost never moves unless hes eating. yeah goliaths have larger teeth but they normaly get chiped up when they get scared, spaz out from you walking by the tank. there not as bold and aggressive as people think. If you really want one and will go the extra yard to have one and know you want him for life. then make a large pond with no glass sides with lots of plants for them to hide in..... you want someyhing to give you cold chills cleaning the tank then get a wolffish.
