My LFS has some, but they sell them for alot more than most places, and when I try to breed them, most of the fry come out deformed and/or can't swim/grow... I'm thinking its because of inbreeding.

Any suggestions?

I think NE-cichlids (a vendor here) sells large quantities of feeders....And ghost shrimps if I am not mistaken....Hit him up....

Wow, really? Thanks for the info... and I think that his supply is probably more trustworthy than the one at my LFS.

(Semi-rant) Last batch I bought 16 to put in a 10 gallon tank, and when they came, they were loaded with every kind of disease you could imagine (tail rot, red streaks, open sores). Half of them died within 2 days, another half of them within a week. It reminds me of those radioactive half life things.

I'm surprised you had problems breeding the fish. How about just buying a male guppy from one LFS and a female from another LFS? You get rid of your inbreeding issues. Eventually, you will have lots of fry for feeding. Allot cheaper than buying them online and paying for shipping costs.

There is no such thing as a good quality "Feeder" Guppy. Reason being weel they are food. Fish farms that mass produce them do not take the time to ensure their healthy since they will die anyway.

Best thing to do to get feeders is buy a few convicts. They breed like rabbits. If you want guppies, you should buy a few fancy guppies and breed them and they will be better quality than the feeder guppy gene pool.

I sell feeders, but do not guarantee live arival on them.

Yea, I guess that's true unfortunately... I'm just concerned they're going to spread the disease to the fish that's eating them. Though, I think most of the disease in this last batch I've gotten developed after they had arrived in the fish store. They use the feeders in their tanks, too, and none of the ones I see in those tanks have anywhere near the amount of disease that the ones they sell to customers. My theory is that they keep a portion of feeders for their own use and actually put filtration in it... the rest they dump in a toilet to sell :irked:

I got some fancies yesterday, and I'm going to check out another store for the others.

Please give me non-dying guppies! :wall:

Quarantine :)

Most of them die in quarantine. Seriously, they're like radioactive elements with a half-life of a day. Arg. You come back the next day and, woah, half your feeders a dead :(

When I divided the total cost by how many I have left, came out to about $1.5 per feeder...

but I think I found a good store now. The previous LFS was just plain bad.
