Yes, UV will quickly kill green water. Though I know nothing about this particular system and how well/long will last. (Note the algea will likely come back whenever you stop running the UV filter.)

As for parasites/bacteria you need different intensities for it to do any real good. I know there was a table out there on how strong of a UV light vs how fast the water needed to flow for whatever size tank you wanted. (For each type of thing, ie aglea, parasites, bacteria.)

But do know that if you are trying to Sterilizer you will for sure need to be running 24/7... ie to kill bacteria it takes a lot more than to kill algea.

Ah here are some numbers... remember these are for running 24/7.

Yes id certainly say it helps, I certainly noticed a difference. I also noticed a difference when I remembered to turn the thing on 4 weeks after turning it off to do filter maintanace. Yes it certainly works better when turned on.

Thank you for the chart...

According to the chart I would need 30 watts @ max of 525 gph to control algea and a max of 175gph to control parasites in a 175 gallon aquarium.

So if this product works properly and is truly 24 watts at 94GPH it should do the job?:D

Does anybody on MFK own one or have experience with this manufacturer?

I just bought one of these today for my 54 corner tank. I have had great results with my 18 w turbo twist on my 92 corner. I have been keeping fish for around 25 years and never used them before. I recently had reoccuring ich issues that was a stubborn strain which I treated conventionally and would not go away. I have learned alot form my uv experiance and found that it is greatly beneficial. Let me know how your 24 w "green killing machine" is working out for you.

I got a 24 watter. It works great I don't know about parasites I assume since it claims to remove them and thats partially what UV is for that it does so. Water polished up nicely as well.
