Don't own one but there was a 3.5" one at my LFS for almost 9 months and it was always out.

For the first few months i saw mine only at feeding and sometimes in the morning. Now sometimes he scoots around if I'm sitting near the tank and not moving much.
Still one of my favorite plecs, I'm hoping to find a 128, and maybe the highfin sp.

I have 3 phantoms (hemiancistrus subviridis) and 2 of the blues (L128) and they are pretty reclusive. Had them for about 18 months. They are out mostly in the dawn/dusk hours and prefer something overhead for security. Dithers seem to help. They do come out for feeding and will hang out if there's not too much light or movement.

I have had a Green Phantom for a little over 1 year now. I bought her at about 2 inches, and she appears to have grown about 1 inch. When I first got her, she was all over the tank on the first day or two, sucking up and down the glass. After that, she stayed hidden inside of one of my decorator logs. For over a month, I never saw her come out or swim about, or even eat. A few times I saw her being chased around by my Leopard Sailfin Pleco, and once or twice saw her fighting with my Golden Nugget Pleco. Then the fighting and chasing stopped. after about 3 months, I finally saw her coming out to eat, and now, she's the first one out when it's feeding time. She doesn't hide as much as she used to. Sometimes she stays under one one my logs, and other times she just hangs about the outside of the log. I've also seen her just laying right out in the open in the middle of the tank. The light doesn't seem to change her behavior, regardless of whether I have a dim light on or the full bright light on.

I've never owned a green but my old blue was very shy at the beginning and slowly got more outgowing and active during the day the longer I had him. I had him for around 6 months and he was always one of the shyer plecos in the tank. I'd see him every morning when I turn on the lights, in the evening when it was dark out, and whenever there was food in the tank. Other than that I'd catch little glimpses here and there but other than that I'd never see him
