Hello, I got 4 young A. rivulatus in a 100 g tank.
They are just 2 or 2.5 inches long, and should be at least 2 males.
I wanna keep the best male and sell the other ones.
Current tankmates are a 3 inch tucan fish, Chalceus erythrurus, a same size bristlenose pleco , a pair of rainbow cichlids and a small Archocentrus kanna.
I think keeping female cichlids is no good idea isn't it?
Bye

Rainbow cichlids are probably too peaceful for a gt. Chalceus should be fine, but do need schools. I’ve never heard of archocentrus manna, but I looked it up and all that came up is a convict. Assuming they are the same, it should be fine as long as they figure things out early on.
As for females, it depends on the fish. If they can’t cross breed, it would be safe to keep females and males together because they likely won’t pair off. Single gender is probably safer though.

The rainbow cichlid male is king of the tank now, because he is almost double the size of the GTs.
But that will change soon.
Yes, they are pretty mellow and I was afraid I could not keep them.
Or is there another experience?
Archocentrus, or Amatitlania kanna is from the group of convict cichlids, but a little smaller, more colorful, less aggressive and ok with plants, by the way.

This is Amatitlania (previously Archocentrus) myrnae.

And as above the name could be confused withA kanna.
If it were me, I wouldn't keep GTs with other cichlids, other than maybe Mesoheros gephyrum (ornatum), GTs are usually the only cichlid in their west Andean habitat.

Better tank mates would be geographically correct tetras, or other non-cichlid fish from the same habitat.

Hi, i wonder if I might have got A. rivulatus and A. stalsbergi/ (hybrid?)
The edges of the tail fins are so differently colored.
The one with the brighter yellow, almost white is 2 inches long and has a steeper forehead, the other one is about 2,5 inches long and seens to be too colorful to be a female.
But the other two fish have almost no color in their fins, so I think I have 2 males, 2 females.
What do you think?

Rivilatus can have either white or orange seems or a mix of the two.
How you tell Rivilatus vs Stalsbergi is quite simple. Rivilatus have rows of black dots down the sides.

Here is a White Saum Rivilatus I had

And here is a Stalsbergi

Not my pic got it from Google but you can really see the difference of black dots and not.

Yeah, there are white suams and gold suams. Both are Rivulatus, just with white or gold fins.
