Hi,

I'm looking at getting hold of one of these freshwater morays, done a fair bit of research on them but just looking to see any care recommendations from peoples' experience.

Currently have a 350L tank, 6ft x 18inch, assume this will need an upgrade eventually but wondering how long this size tank would maybe be good for?

Have people managed to wean them onto dry foods or is this an impossible task?

Any experience of keeping them with plecos as well?

by providing alot of hiding spaces like PVC pipes and caves the freshwater moray would be able to live in that tank for a longer period of time. yes there are many people who have weened them onto frozen foods, onto dry foods like pellets however would be a difficult task.

Larger plecos could work.
Also, you may well already know this, but just in case, in order to keep G. polyuranodon in freshwater, I would recommend a high pH setup.

Ok sound, tank is already set up with several EBJD that I'll probably move on anyway and a sunshine + Adonis pleco. It's heavily planted with a lot of driftwood so plenty of hiding.
Don't really like the look of the PVC pipes but if necessary I can camouflage them into the Scape.

I didn't actually know that, how high are we talking?

I'd say about 7.5-8.0 is good.

Higher end of that range is preferred. You will likely want to buffer it with aragonite/sand mix substrate. This will keep your carbonate alkalinity high and prevent the pH from swinging and killing the fish. Much preferred over chemical buffers.

get a tight fitting lid and lots of hiding places.

Mines only 12" but hes eaten dried food ever since I got him. He takes the bug pellets which name I forget but he bolts them down when I feed them
