I have been playing around with the idea of this for a while but I havent seen any videos of pictures of anyone attempting to pull it off so I am not sure if its entirely possible. I figure this sub section would be the best place to take it to and see if anyone has any experience int this arena. Has anyone grafted a bonsai to piece of driftwood in a aquarium. I have been doing some research and grafting to driftwood seems to be common see below (image one). The problem is choosing the right type of bonsai that will work indoors look good and will not easily get drowned out by water on the roots. I settled on Punica granatum 'Nejikan or twisting pomegranate as it ages it rotates giving it a unique look and can grow year long indoors in a humid environment. (see image 2-4) also it has flowers during certain times of the year and fruit. To my understanding as long as you only submerge the roots and not the trunk the tree should take. See image 5 this is the driftwood I want to try this on their are 4 peaks 2 slightly below the water line 2 slightly above. With that being said let me know what you guys think

I think he would look good swimming around the roots of a two hundred year old bonsai. (If you can wait that long.)

Great idea…for your application, a dwarf schefflera would be the best option. They do great indoors and with lots of humidity above a tank, they’ll grow aerial roots like a banyan
