Hello everyone, I have already posted a few times but decided it is still best if I introduce myself. I have been keeping fish for a few years but only knew enough to have a 55 gallons tank with a few basic fish in it. When I discovered mfk it inspired me to learn more about fish keeping and made me want to have monster fish of my own. For multiple reasons I am unable to get a bigger tank at the moment but hope to soon. My goal is to get a 250-300 gallon tank, so I have been reading a lot of different articles about everything that goes into owning a tank that size and reading up on potential fish to keep in it.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far and thanks to all the awesome people who run the site. :)

Welcome! A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Do keep an eye on the Craigslist for your nearest major city; 240-300 gallon tanks often pop up for dramatically cheaper than new in most areas.

I look forward to seeing you out in the threads!

Thanks for the suggestion I will defiantly check craig's list out for my future tanks. :) The biggest problem for me is the weight since it will have to go on the second floor.

Welcome to MFK! Large tanks are easier to maintain in my experience. The larger water volume helps dilute the waste and maintain more stable water perameters. Do lots of research selecting your monsters and be sure to ask a lot of questions. We have a lot of members who are knowledgeable and happy to help.

Thanks and I have been doing lots of research on all manner of monster fish. There are so many amazing fish I have only so far settled on 1 fish that is a 100% must have for me and thats the Lima Shovelnose.
