Help?! 125 gallon stand 2x4’s or 2x6’s?

Yeah agreed, 2x4's all the way, though to be fair 2x4's are overkill. People underestimate the strength of wood.
Shop bought stands are usually inadequate looking skinny things that don't even look like they're up to the job. But would a shop sell stands that haven't been thoroughly tested, after all they don't want any claims against them. Truth is, even those skinny shop bought stands are strong as hell.
But for DIY stands 2x4's are generally the way to go for many. Enjoy your build.

i had a 55gal tank stand made of 4x4's. the new 90gal tank i picked up with a stand was made of thin 1x4's. i couldnt believe it... but the damn thing works fine, no movement or shaking, and is really solid.

I agree with everyone else, though 2x6s would be better, 2x4s will work fine no problem, here's a video that will help you a bit more
