I think the spots are to big to be ZZ
Yeah, at first I was like "this can't be it, spots too big & far apart from each other except on the heads." But noticely there's aren't any juvenile catfish that are white with black spots.

thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter could this be a variation of lesser known species, Zungaro jahu?

We know exceedingly little of what jahu looks like, it appears. Coupled with the ID-hostile dorsal view, I'd say the guessing at this point is unwarranted.

It's as if we are driving and see a dog cross a highway a mile ahead. We look at each other and say "That looked like a doberman!". Then a minute later you say "Could it have been a boxer?". I think we'd be lucky we guessed the genus correctly. Forget the species. It could have been a fox, a wolf, or a chubby baby deer.

Nevermind, still gonna order it though. This fish are so rare here that I'm the first person will have a jau in my country. What's their price range? And growth rate on these guys? I heard they grow slow, hope not slower than my irwini.

If these are indeed Z. zungaro, in the US they go for about $20-$50 for ~3"-4-er. They appear to reach ~2' in about 2 years. No, nothing like irwini. Mine two are about 7 and 9 years old and both are 34"-36".
