Hi everyone. I really need some quick help. I just bought a young fingerling, he is only about 1.5 inches. still has a tiny egg sag on him. I put him a 6 inch breeder net thingy inside my 120 gallon tank. I wanted to know when should i start to feed him, what should I feed him, and how should I put him in clam placid water or do they need strong good current. Please let me know, he looks like he is getting weak, and I really dont want him to die. THANKS EVERYONE.

I got the that one there, it had the smallest egg sag, I dont know if that was smarter or was a mistake. but I got that one lol. So any help with feeding would be great guys/gals. THANKS

Good luck on this, A small black is a really delicate fish until he gets up to about 4-5"s. Try anything small, Blood worms or small guppies might get him going. Dont give it anything with a shell on it (meal worms).

you shouldn't of gotten a baby arowana with a egg sac still on it. they are very hard to raise and keep alive. Try fish flakes, blood worms and fried egg with no oil and salt etc.

I forgot, Aro's dont need alot of current. Just enought to keep water flowing and enough oxygen in it. To much movement can kill such a small fish by pushing into objects or the side of your tank.

This so much. Ya i should have gotten a big one, but the gold and black gave me such impulse. couldnt help it. I really dont want him to die because of my stupid mistakes.

Most of them do die, I have had good luck with smaller ones. But I have never had one with the egg sack attached.

What is your water temp at? Should be between 79 F to 82 F. If its too cold he doesnt have a chance.

Also get a test kit if you dont have one.

Plus dont change the water until he gets well used to the tank or you test anything worse then perfect water conditions. These fish stress very easy.

Depends, If the egg sack is as small as you say, it probably doesnt have much in it. The fish will have to start eating on its own soon. Just make sure you clean out any left over food if he eats or not.

You need to have the water as close to perfect as possible.

you should put it in a 20gal alone. feed it freeze dried blood worms and crushed pellets. they need little to no current and 100% perfict stable water conditions. you just got one of the most difficult fish to care for. good luck. read the stickies for more info as there is alot in there.
