I know the typical danios and scissortails, but what about larger tankmates like vincent von plecski?
I have 70 bucks to my lfs and I could get some powerheads.
Another fish I would like are hatchets, but I already see what could go wrong there (sees fish hopelesly flying across tank)
I could also get some rocks for them as well as an extra filter to keep up against the endless poo thAt comes from my pleco...
Any reccomendations?

I'm not understanding your post. What species is your pleco? Rubberlipped plecos, whiptails and bristlenose are fine but they compete the hillstream loaches for algae food.

Common
He was going to be put down otherwise, so i had to get him then...
once he reaches 9", I'm upgrading him to a 125.
What I'm saying is if average fish that can tolerate a current can be kept with them, or are they also at risk of being bullied?

And Lupin, I read the loach thing, and I actually thought it was odball for the first page...

hillstreams are neat! :D

Completely not answering the question, but yes, yes they are...

Most plecos work but they really compete algae for food. I don't recommend mixing common plecos with hillstreams for this very reason.

I see...
Are they out of the question or should I just be careful with feeding
If it's the former, any similar or clown loachish fish I could have?

Darters (Etheostoma and Percina sp.) are ideal tankmates for hillstreams, if you can get them.

I've had great success keeping my Beaufortia and Pseudogastromyzon spp. with bamboo/waterfall shrimp, which come from the exact same area and biotope.

Corydoras catfish also stay extremely active and energetic in hillstream tanks.
Red cherry and ghost shrimp can do well also. Just make sure the hillstream loaches have smooth river stones to guard as their 'territory'!

The issue at hand here is if hillstream loaches are target of bullying, not who can survive with them
