I'm new to wolves guys, I've never had them and I recently got suckered into getting a 7.5" Hoplias lacerdae, green from a buddy of mine (he got it form wes a couple of months ago). My question is:

Can I keep this guy with a VATF of the same size..?

I tried searching, but since there are soo many different wolf fish types I couldn't get a definitive answer. Only thing I got is a couple of youtube videos with ATFs and wolves and the wolves were almost always smaller...

You should be able to as long as the sizes are similar and you have a large tank. Just consider growth rates cause if one is bigger then the fish will take the opportunity to eat the other.

The other thing is that really depends on the temperment of the fish. Some will tolerate tank mates and other will not. That's for both fish.

If they're the same size it'll work I did this exact combo 2 of Wes's green eye lacerated and a VaTF and a few other dithers and misc in a 40b no problems as a growout

Cool thanks for the vote of confidence guys! Phew... I think the atf is slightly bigger than the lac... They're both in my main 240.

The reason I was concerned was because when I was searching I came across a post where in a person caught 30 of them (4") and put them in a 40 gallon breeder, was gone for a week and came back to see only 8 left lol! And all of them were of the same size haha. Which got me thinking: I know I won't let my fish go hungry for a week, but the wolf does have the potential to eat a fish as big as him...
