I know it sounds like a dumb squestion, but how long after purchase should mealworms still be OK to feed to my SA/CA children?

Ya, they don't really go bad. Feed them carrots and spinach, then feed them to your fish. If you have them long enough, they turn into beetles, and I still feed them to my fish.

How long before the they turn into beetles? And if they do, is that still a 100% safe food to feed them, might the beetle try and bite or something?

Sorry for all the questions. Thx

i think the bugs would have to be more worried about the cichlids biting (swallowing) them. ;) I have kept mealworms in my refridgerator for every bit of 3-4 weeks. I have never had any issues.. they always get eaten before dying or turning into bugs

The worms, larva/pupa & beetles are all fair game. If you keep them cool (refrigerated) it takes them longer to turn into beetles than if they are kept at room temperature.

they will last a LONG time in the refrigerator.. just keep them in oatmeal and a container with small ventilation holes..
