I just recently caught and kept a small 4in bluegill, but i dont know how much to feed him. any suggestions?

well rule of thumb is feed what your fish can eat in 5 minutes. but also for the first few times just see how much he can eat without letting the food just sit on the substrate.

then again as he gets bigger you would have to accomodate his appetite

they eat crickets, meal worms, shrimp, feeders,............ i used to have some for like a year

i'd feed them every other day,.......... i'd feed them each like 3 crickets one day, the next feeding time 3 meal worms, the next time, shrimp cut into small pieces about 3-4 pieces each.

mine learned that if they didn't eat when food was dropped, they'd go hungry until the next feeding time, so there was no chance for food to sit or sink to the bottom.

that's my experience with them,........... and wild caught are aggresive. they'll bite & mess up tank mates' tails if they go hungry,..........

They don't need much food if you want to keep them smaller longer. Mine 5" gill' would suck down 2-3 small minnows every day If I let him but he seem just fine with a chidlid stick or two everyday.

cichlid stick?? its a type of food for cichlids and other fish.I will feed a blue gill meal worms/nightcrawlers thats what i use to fish for them.
