I have two spotted gars, both are just over 7". I wanna grow fast by feeding them properly, i wanna make sure i dont feed them too much or too less. One loves eating frozen dried shrimps but the other wont get off guppy feeder for some reason. So how often should i feed these guys?

twice a day or maybe even three times a day as long as they will eat not just shred the food and make a mess in the tank also give them an off day in wich they dont get food every other week or so

I have A.spatula. Size 16 cm. The tank still has a few pieces of fish - feed. There is in the tank approximately 50 pieces Poecilia reticulata. Feeds as needed.

It may be that the GAR eat a lot and die?

i would've probably left some guppies around so they can feed when ever they feel like it, but they share their tank with a silver arowana, which i really wanna keep it off feeders. Too much food for gars can kill them?

then i would seperate the silver arrow from the gar and make sure that the gars have food available to them 24/7. yoy gar should definately have access to a constant supply of food, and i can't think of any valid reason for not providing that.

too much food can cause obesity and health issues later in life, but at this size, they need to be able to eat whenever they want.

i have a 10" gator gar that i feed 6-8 tuffies 3x a week and he is doing verry well... tuffies are good to feed them with the aro in the tank because they tend to stay at the bottom of the tank...

I have to agree with xander on this one, I haven't had success in converting to pellets so all of mine are still on the minnows. I make sure there is minnows in there at all times, if they are hungry they will eat, if they aren't hungry they won't eat. At that size let them eat, even with food in there at all times, my gar don't look overly obese. It hurts the bank, but keep guppies in there at all times, regardless of your arow, that doesn't mean don't feed your gar, just separate if you have to.

what xander says is definitely right, i wouldnt argue on that...they need constant food at this size..but there may also be the case that you might not have an extra tank to separate them..i also had a gar who would only eat feeders and nothing else...while all the other fishes were on frozen..so i used to take this gar in a bucket for 2 mins and feed him n put him back in the tank..the gar was so smart that in 2 days it would go in the bucket on its own knowing that the bucket meant food....just an alternative..now its on frozen anyways and doing well

According to my LPS, the Aro was raised on pellets and would be less interested in feeders, but then again he's a predator by instinct. Ill probably put some guppies for the gars to pick off. The only problem is guppies in the UAE aren't sold as feeders so they're kinda costly to get by a daily basis, like 13 dhs for 4 guppies which is like 3.4 USD.
