Havent had a pleco since I was a kid and am probably getting a green or blue phantom and wanted to know if I should do anything special to acclimate it. The tank will be a 150 not set up yet. moving media from existing filter into fx6 after a few days will also move an established 2217 to rhe tank as wellwill. Should I drip acclimate or just float the bag ?

Acclimated it like you would any other fish. Use drip method if there is a difference in pH

I always add water. I open the bag, float it(use something to hold it from floating away). About every 15 minute scoop a little water into the bag(sometimes the bag fills up and I have to dump some). I do this for about 60-90 minutes.

Also watch the new tank closely for any spikes

I like to take a water sample from the bag which the pleco came in to see the water condition then add water, depend on how bad the water quality is I will add different amount of water every 10-15 mins. I will say this most LFS water quality out of their own tank is mess up.
