In a community tank, most of the time a fishkeeper has to resort to target feedings to fish(es) that are slow to compete with the others , a specialized feeding habit or bottom feeders. There are multiple ways of doing this .

For example, for my rays, i use a net to lower down the shrimps. This ensures that my bottom dwellers get their required diet. I then throw the remaining pieces on top mixed with pellets.

I wanna hear whats yours. Post them here !

I just throw all the foods in there and if the fish that i want to feed hasn't eaten anything yet. Add some more food.

I fabricated a Feeding stick from a 36" piece of hard airline tubing a Needle an used marine safe Epoxy to secure the needle in one end.

Works perfect for getting food down to my cats an CK. :headbang2

Have to put algae wafer under rock ledge for pleco, was dropping them behind plants after lights out but oscar caught on to that trick

well ill hand feed em. My oscars get the blood worms i put in the tank not letting anything else get some. One of my oscars got 3 out of the 4 i fed them. I hand feed my RTC bloomworms and silversides. with the feeding sticks u guys talk about. Having a needle on the end, won't the fish bite it by accident and stab their mouths????

i throw some sinking pellets, and throw in some floating ones, or floating shrimp, lol

If you have pigs like mine those sinking pellets would never reach the bottom.

Ben - I cant do that .. One fish alone can eat 6-10 shrimps a day. And that would do some damage to my water quality.

I love the improvised feeding devices.. Kebab sticks and a private food shaft for bottom dwellers??? Keep those techniques coming !

I also do the decoy strategy.. drop pellets on one side and drop the goodies ( shrimps, bw ,nightcrawlers ) to the fish that you want to target on the other side. :)
